About Us

Surf Coast BAL Reports is a small local, family-run business located in Torquay, Victoria. We love the outdoors. Our kids have grown up on the Surf Coast and attend the local primary school in Torquay. We’re involved in the local football and soccer clubs through the winter months and Nippers over the summer months.

As a family we’re in the water, chasing waves or wind, as often as we can. Matt grew up in regional Victoria and studied a Bachelor of Science. From his teenage years, he was a member of the local CFA fire brigade and competed in the CFA State Championships as a competitor. He has strong connections with local Ecologists and Bushfire Consultants. He spent time with these professionals gaining valuable experience in BAL assessment and reporting. Matt has studied through University of Melbourne and is certified for Assessment of Bushfire Exposure, Building in Bushfire Prone Lands.

We primarily focus on BAL reports in Bushfire Prone Areas to ensure fast, reliable and local service. We also complete BMO planning work, including BMS Reports, in residential areas which fall under the BMO. We have established partners we can refer work to for more complex BMO requirements in a rural areas, or if you require a Native Vegetation Assessment. We are based in Torquay, Victoria, and are proud to offer an extensive service area, focusing most of our work within the following shire council regions:
